Summary
Background
Shannon Kelly is a personal trainer, masseuse, and energy worker. When we met her, she was growing her independent practice toward being her primary income. She is a busy entrepreneur and mom.
Challenge
Shannon partnered with MGlaen to create a responsive website that could automate a lot of her administrative work. This especially focused on client scheduling and purchases. She also wanted to create more opportunities for clients to purchase other goods and services.
Results
The final website was soft and peaceful. Cool color pallets and negative space prepared clients for massage. Rounded shapes created calm. Distilled text gave clarity while serif fonts added a little personality. Clients could now schedule services and purchase online. Additional services and goods were discoverable. Consolidated record keeping and automated administration gave Shannon more time.
Process
Strategy
We started by getting to know Shannon’s existing client base. We learned that a lot of clients would likely be booking their appointments on the go, from their phone. So, optimizing the web design for small phone screens was important. We used a ‘mobile-first’ responsive design. It focused on the phone experience and then adjusted for larger screens. Most visitors would be existing clients or referrals. So, we wanted to bring focus to booking and minimize marketing content.
Design
Cool color pallets and negative space prepared clients for massage. Rounded shapes created calm. Distilled text gave clarity while serif fonts added a little personality. A large graphic calendar was used for scheduling. Checkout is brief.
Development
With a complex scheduling service, the backend for our client to edit is as important as the front end. Shannon can view and approve bookings together on the backend of the website. Time-off can be set, blocking out days on the booking calendar. New products and bundles can easily be created.
